A handsome antique French cast iron Médici urn, dating from the early 20th century. The classical form features a broad flared rim with moulded decoration, a tall tapering body and a deeply gadrooned lower section, all raised on a shaped pedestal and square base.
Finished in black, the surface has developed areas of wear and paint loss over time, revealing traces of the metal beneath and giving the piece plenty of character. The heavy cast iron construction gives it a reassuring weight and a strong architectural presence.
A decorative piece for both interiors and the garden, it would work beautifully planted with flowers, herbs or trailing greenery, or simply displayed on its own as a sculptural accent. Its relatively compact scale also makes it particularly versatile for use on a terrace, console, hearth or garden table.
