A wonderfully weathered 19th-century French confit pot, traditionally used for storing preserved meats in the rural kitchens of South-West France. Hand-thrown in earthenware, it has a generous rounded form with two loop handles and a rich mustard-yellow glaze covering the interior and upper part of the exterior.
Years of use and exposure have left the pot with an exceptionally characterful surface. Large areas of the yellow glaze have worn away to reveal the textured earthenware beneath, while the unglazed lower body has developed a softly mottled grey-green patina. The contrast between the remaining ochre-yellow glaze and heavily weathered surface gives the pot an almost sculptural quality.
A drainage hole has been added through the base at some point in its life, suggesting that it was later repurposed as a planter. Today it would work beautifully as an antique French planter, displayed simply on its own, or as part of a collection of rustic French pottery.

The vintage glass storage jars are exactly as advertised. Excellent customer service! I placed two separate orders several days apart, but they were packed and shipped together. I was quickly reimbursed for overage shipping costs before even requesting a refund! Each jar was very well packed to minimize chance of breakage in transit, and they all arrived undamaged. I will shop here again!
Fantastic! Beautiful! I have been hunting for some Alfred Corneau urns for many years, as most sellers won't send them internationally, as well as at such a reasonable exchange rate. Very happy! : )
