A beautiful 19th-century French terracotta gargoulette, traditionally used for carrying and storing water. This antique water jug has a generously rounded body, a large arched handle spanning the opening, a smaller side handle and a narrow pouring spout.
The warm yellow glaze covers the interior, rim and upper handle, contrasting with the naturally weathered terracotta exterior. Rich earthy browns around the shoulders gradually fade into softer ochre and sandy tones towards the base, creating a wonderful variation in colour and texture.
Believed to date from the late 19th century, this traditional piece of French country pottery has a particularly attractive shape and substantial proportions. Originally made for everyday use, it now makes a stunning decorative piece for a kitchen, dining room or displayed alongside other antique French pottery.

The vintage glass storage jars are exactly as advertised. Excellent customer service! I placed two separate orders several days apart, but they were packed and shipped together. I was quickly reimbursed for overage shipping costs before even requesting a refund! Each jar was very well packed to minimize chance of breakage in transit, and they all arrived undamaged. I will shop here again!
Fantastic! Beautiful! I have been hunting for some Alfred Corneau urns for many years, as most sellers won't send them internationally, as well as at such a reasonable exchange rate. Very happy! : )
