A beautifully timeworn small French antique pottery pitcher with a softly rounded silhouette and warm honey-toned glaze. Dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, this rustic earthenware cruche has a wonderfully understated presence, with subtle variations in colour, kiln speckling and natural wear gathered over decades of use.
The compact proportions, gently pinched pouring lip and shaped handle give the piece an appealing sculptural quality. The glaze shifts between soft oat, olive and golden brown tones, with darker mottling and surface texture that add depth and character.
This type of provincial French pottery was traditionally used for water, cider or wine at the table, though today it works beautifully as part of a layered interior display. Style it on open shelving, alongside larger confit pots and rustic bowls, or use it for a few simple garden stems.
