A decorative antique French cast iron jardinière dating from around the turn of the 20th century. The rectangular body is richly moulded with floral and foliate decoration, framed panels and scrolling details, with an undulating rim, shaped feet and elegant handles to either side.

The old white-painted finish has worn naturally over time, revealing areas of darker iron and oxidation beneath and giving the planter a beautifully aged surface. Its compact but substantial proportions make it particularly versatile, whether planted with herbs or flowers, used as a centrepiece on a table or console, or simply displayed as a decorative object.

There is wear, surface oxidation and loss to the painted finish consistent with age and use, all contributing to its character.
