A wonderful antique French wooden cutting board with a substantial, thick construction, beautifully worn surface and rich patina developed through many years of use.

Made from a single substantial piece of solid wood, this old French chopping board has an elongated rectangular shape with softly worn corners and a short, integral wooden handle with a hanging hole. Its simple, traditional form reflects its original purpose as a practical piece of French kitchenware.

The wooden surface is covered with an abundance of knife marks, cuts and scratches, creating a wonderfully textured appearance that speaks to its long working life. Areas of darker patina around the edges and handle contrast with the warm, naturally aged wood, while small irregularities and worn edges add further character.

Measuring 47 cm in length and an impressive 5 cm thick, this substantial antique chopping board weighs approximately 2.8 kg. Its relatively narrow proportions, heavily worn surface and traditional handle make it a particularly attractive decorative piece.

Perfect for displaying upright against a kitchen wall, resting on open shelving or arranging alongside antique French pottery, copper and other traditional kitchen utensils. A lovely addition to a French country or rustic kitchen, whether displayed individually or as part of a collection of antique wooden cutting boards.
