This rustic French antique confit pot features a beautifully timeworn green and yellow glaze with rich variations in tone and areas of natural wear that reveal the pale earthenware beneath.
Sourced in South West France, the pot has a classic tapered form with two small side handles and an unglazed lower section typical of traditional French country pottery.
The heavily weathered surface gives the piece wonderful texture and character, with crackling, glaze loss, and mineral wear accumulated over many decades of use. Deep green glaze and flowing yellow glaze contrast beautifully against the exposed clay, creating a sculptural look. At some point in the pot's history, a drainage hole has been added to the base allowing for use as a planter.
Originally used for preserving confit, today it makes a striking decorative piece displayed on a shelf, console, kitchen table, or filled with dried branches or seasonal greenery. Its worn surface and authentic patina give it the kind of presence that only genuine antique pottery develops over time.
