A wonderfully timeworn 19th-century French confit pot with a warm mustard-yellow glaze and beautifully weathered surface. The glaze covers the upper section of the pot, becoming increasingly irregular towards the lower body where areas of pale natural earthenware have been revealed through generations of use.
With a rounded form, softly flared rim and two traditional loop handles. Extensive glaze loss, crazing and areas of exposed clay give the surface remarkable depth and texture, with subtle variations from golden yellow through ochre and soft cream. During this confit pot's long history, a drainage hole has been added to the base.
A characterful example of traditional French country pottery, with the kind of naturally aged patina that makes these old confit pots so decorative. It would sit beautifully amongst a collection of antique ceramics or displayed alone on a kitchen shelf, table or console.

The pot shows substantial wear consistent with its age and utilitarian history, including some cracks, extensive glaze loss, chips and wear around the rim, crazing and surface marks. Please refer closely to the photographs for condition.
The vintage glass storage jars are exactly as advertised. Excellent customer service! I placed two separate orders several days apart, but they were packed and shipped together.
