Beautifully timeworn French antique terracotta brique chauffe-lit, used for heating the bed. This everyday object, dating from the 19th century, would have been heated in an oven or fire, wrapped in a cloth and placed in the bed. This one has a beautiful brown glaze with the terracotta showing through and would make a wonderful display.
This piece has chips to the glaze.
