A striking pair of French antique brass table lamp bases, created from decorative andirons (firedogs), dating to the late 19th or early 20th century.
Originally used as part of a fireplace setting, these ornate andirons have been thoughtfully converted into table lamps, preserving their sculptural quality while giving them a new purpose. Each features a richly detailed design with scrolling acanthus leaves and a central classical mask, set on a shaped base with cast decorative panels.
The warm tone of the brass has developed a soft patina over time, highlighting the depth and detail of the casting. The symmetry of the pair makes them particularly suited for use on either side of a mantelpiece, console, or bedside.
They have been fitted as lamps and retain their characterful antique presence, combining functionality with strong decorative impact.
