A beautifully detailed 19th century French engraving titled Les Amours Champêtres, after an 18th century Rococo composition by Pierre Antoine Baudouin and engraved by Pierre-Philippe Choffard.
The scene depicts an intimate rural moment outside a rustic French cottage, with finely engraved detail throughout the landscape, figures and architectural elements. Presented in a later gilt frame with soft pale green and cream mounts, which complement the monochrome engraving particularly well.
The engraving appears to be a 19th century impression after the original 18th century engraving. Its gentle faded tones and elegant presentation make it a lovely decorative piece for layered French interiors, gallery walls, bedrooms, libraries or studies.
A charming piece of antique French wall art with a soft romantic atmosphere.
