An unusual and highly decorative French antique alcool pourer dating from the early 20th century, with richly detailed lithographed floral decoration in deep green, ochre and cream tones.
This sculptural metal vessel was designed for storing and pouring alcool à brûler, used historically for spirit lamps, rechauds and domestic fuel use. The form closely relates to early French pétrole pourers, with a cylindrical body, conical top, hinged pouring mechanism and original metal handle.
The surface retains its beautifully aged original lithography, featuring stylised floral and botanical motifs alongside bold “ALCOOL” lettering. Timeworn rusting and patina throughout add to its character.
Objects of this type are increasingly sought after for both decorative interiors and collectors of early French utilitarian metalware, petroliana and advertising tins. This example stands out for the quality of its decoration and its striking sculptural silhouette.
A wonderful piece for display in a French country kitchen, pantry, atelier or alongside antique copper, enamelware and rustic pottery.
