Beautifully timeworn antique brick, used for heating the bed. This everyday object, dating from the nineteenth century, would have been heated in an oven or fire, wrapped in cloth and then placed in the bed. This brique chauffe-lit, made from terracotta, is a beautiful red colour and would make a wonderful display.
The antique ceramic bed warmed has chips, wear to the glaze, plus a crack to the side.
