This pair of French antique cast iron andirons date to the 19th century and feature a distinctly classical style. Each andiron is topped with an urn-shaped finial, accented by elegant moulded details and a fluted form that evokes neoclassical architectural design. The bases are richly decorated with scrolling motifs and small medallions, giving the pieces a strong sculptural presence.
Made from heavy cast iron, they have a naturally aged patina with traces of time-worn texture that add to their character. Originally used to support logs in an open hearth, these fire dogs now make beautiful decorative pieces for a fireplace.
