A large vintage studio pottery vase with a blue drip glaze.
This stunning ceramic vase has a sculptural amphora form and twin handles, finished in a layered blue and cream drip glaze.
The body has been built using coiled clay, visible in the subtle movement and texture beneath the glaze. The glaze falls in vertical runs from the shoulder, pooling and breaking naturally across the surface, with darker tones sitting beneath a soft blue wash at the neck.
At 16" tall, it works well as a standalone piece on a console, shelf, or floor setting, where the scale and shape can be appreciated.
Dating to the mid-20th century, this is a piece of French studio pottery, made in small workshop production rather than factory-made.
