Carefully sourced in France: One of a kind piece

A beautiful French antique earthenware jar dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, featuring a rich green glaze cascading over a warm terracotta body. Originally fitted with two small handles, this rustic vessel has developed a wonderfully timeworn appearance, with historic handle losses, areas of glaze wear, and a surface that reflects decades of use and age.

The jar's rounded, bulbous form is reminiscent of traditional French confit pots and farmhouse preserving vessels, making it a characterful example of provincial French pottery. The contrast between the deep olive-green glaze, the exposed terracotta clay, and the striking mustard yellow glazed interior creates a particularly attractive colour palette.

Whether displayed as part of a collection of French pottery, styled on open shelving, or used as a vase for seasonal branches and dried flowers, this antique earthenware jar brings texture and history to an interior. Its generous shoulder and narrow opening make it especially well suited to displaying olive branches, hydrangeas, or other architectural stems.
