An antique ceramic cache pot dating to the turn of the 20th century, with strong Art Nouveau influence. The piece is richly decorated in relief, with trailing ivy leaves encircling the rim and a flowing trumpet-shaped flower applied to the body.
The exterior is finished in a deep green glaze, softly shaded through the moulded details, while the interior is glazed in turquoise that contrasts beautifully with the darker exterior tones. The gently scalloped rim gives the piece a sculptural, organic feel.
The base is unglazed and bears an impressed mould number, consistent with French barbotine production of the late 19th to early 20th century.
Originally intended as a jardinière, it works equally well as a decorative planter or as a standalone piece.
