A charming set of four French antique barbotine asparagus plates by Saint Clément, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, circa 1890–1910.
These beautifully moulded faience plates feature raised asparagus spears with soft purple tips, surrounded by flowing green stems and deep pink flowers in the Art Nouveau taste. The relief decoration stands out wonderfully against the creamy white ground, giving the plates both sculptural depth and a fresh spring-like feel.
Produced by the renowned Saint Clément faience factory in Lorraine, these asparagus plates reflect the popularity of naturalistic tableware during the Belle Époque period.
