Carefully sourced in France: One of a kind piece

A French antique confit pot in terracotta, dating to the late 19th century, finished with a warm yellow glaze across the upper half.

The classic form features a gently tapering body, two looped side handles, and a softly everted rim. The glaze sits above the traditional fill line, where the pot would have been sealed with fat to preserve meats, leaving the lower section unglazed and porous.

The surface has developed a beautifully timeworn character, with visible glaze runs, tonal variation, and areas of natural wear reflecting years of use in a rural kitchen setting.

At some point in the pot's history, a hole has been put into the base. These pots were often used as planters.

A sculptural piece that works well as a standalone object or filled with greenery, bringing warmth and a sense of history to shelves, tables, or larger kitchen displays.
