A substantial antique French walnut oil jar, believed to date from the 18th century. Made from glazed terracotta, this traditional earthenware vessel has a beautifully rounded body, three ribbed loop handles and a short pouring spout. Its warm orange-brown glaze is complemented by touches of yellow around the base and smaller flecks near the handles, creating a lovely variation in colour across the surface.
Known in France as a cruche à huile de noix, this type of pottery jar was traditionally used for storing and pouring walnut oil. The generous proportions, distinctive arrangement of handles and simple, functional form are characteristic of French provincial pottery, made for everyday use in rural households.
Now a striking decorative piece, this antique French pottery jar would make a lovely addition to a country kitchen, displayed on a large dresser, rustic wooden table or open shelving.

The vintage glass storage jars are exactly as advertised. Excellent customer service! I placed two separate orders several days apart, but they were packed and shipped together. I was quickly reimbursed for overage shipping costs before even requesting a refund! Each jar was very well packed to minimize chance of breakage in transit, and they all arrived undamaged. I will shop here again!
Fantastic! Beautiful! I have been hunting for some Alfred Corneau urns for many years, as most sellers won't send them internationally, as well as at such a reasonable exchange rate. Very happy! : )
