Each is individually formed, with subtle variations in shape, colour and thickness alongside the bubbles and inclusions characteristic of traditional hand-blown glass. The result is a set in which no two glasses are quite alike.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe matching pitcher has a rounded, generously proportioned body rising to a narrower neck and softly flared pouring rim. A large clear glass handle has been applied by hand, providing a lovely contrast against the pink body. The swirling movement of the coloured glass is particularly striking across the pitcher, where pale blush tones are interspersed with stronger rose-coloured trails.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe substantial hand-blown construction, irregular bubbling and distinctive rose-coloured glass are reminiscent of the glassmaking tradition of Biot in the South of France. The form and workmanship also bear similarities to pieces produced by Biot-area workshops such as Verrerie du Val de Pôme, although the set is unsigned and we have not been able to establish a maker.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTogether, the seven pieces weigh approximately 3 kg, reflecting the unusually substantial quality of the glass.
